Your Throat Chakra Revealed – Know How To Heal This Chakra

The throat chakra is also known as the fifth chakra, or if you are feeling fancy, its Sanskrit name is “Visuddha.”

Its position is at the center of the neck. Generally, the physical association of the throat chakra is throat, ears, mouth, shoulders, thyroid and neck.

Visuddha means “especially pure.”

Because of the relation of the throat chakra to the mouth, ears, shoulders, and neck, it is in direct association with your communication, creativity, and your ability to speak your truth as “purely” as you possibly can.

The gift of this chakra is to accept your originality and demonstrate your authentic voice. Other names of the throat chakra are Kanth Padma and shodash dala.

When our throat chakra is in a stable state, our ability to speak, verbalize, concentrate on hearing, and articulate ourselves is highly increased.

When it is out of balance, we will always have trouble listening to other people, and you may find yourself perpetually lying non-stop.

You may also experience mild to severe symptoms such as a sore neck and shoulders, or a sore throat that just won’t go away. You may also experience an unstable state in all your other chakras.

A Balanced Throat Chakra

When our fifth chakra is in a stable state, our ability to speak, verbalize, concentrate on hearing, and articulate ourselves is highly increased.

When it is out of balance, we will always have trouble listening to other people, and you may find yourself perpetually lying non-stop.

You may also experience mild to severe symptoms such as a sore neck and shoulders, or a sore throat that just won’t go away. You may also experience an unstable state in all your other chakras.

What causes our throat chakra to be out of balance?

There are a number of things which can cause an imbalance in your whole chakra system. Of course, all our chakras are in connection. If one is out of balance, it affects all the others. The things which can cause an imbalance in our chakra system include Illness, tension, stress, and emotional clutter.

Flaws in your throat chakra can cause a number of problems including:

  • Thyroid imbalances
  • Tonsillitis
  • Hearing problems
  • Mouth ulcers
  • Bronchitis
  • Ear infections
  • Feelings of timidity
  • Feelings of insecurity

When this chakra has an imbalance, it can manifest in many different ways. Some of those ways are:

  • Telling lies.
  • Not being able to keep secrets or your word.
  • Excessive shyness and secrecy.
  • Fear of speaking.
  • Not being able to pinpoint your purpose in life.
  • Significant lack of control over your speech.
  • Small and subtle voice.
  • You will find that you lack the ability to listen to others.

Signs of a Balanced Throat Chakra

On the other hand, if this chakra is at ease and peace (well balanced), you will:

  • Be able to speak your truth, and to speak out.
  • Have a certain sense of timing.
  • Be able to communicate both internally and externally, verbally, and non-verbally.
  • Realize your sense of purpose.

The throat chakra is, in essence, related to the element of sound. It serves as a vital instrument of communication and self-expression.

Our throat chakra is represented by the colors blue turquoise or aquamarine blue that give off an aura and chakra energy or chakra prana of smoky purple or turquoise.

The symbol and prana (energy) of the throat chakra are usually equally distributed between:

  • A circle that has sixteen petals.
  • A crescent shape with a circle inside of it.

throat chakra symbol

Other times it is symbolized by a circle that encases another circle, which contains a downward pointing triangle.

The color of the petals is a smoky purple. On the leaves of this chakra, the blue petals symbolize and have the power of truth, while the lighter blue and purple shades have the power of balance, flexibility, and relaxation.

Underactive Throat Chakra

Sometimes we can have an underactive throat chakra, while other times, we can have an overactive throat chakra.

When your throat chakra is underactive, it means your throat is not distributing energy or prana to the rest of your body.

When your chakra is overactive, it means your body is distributing too much energy flow. This can significantly affect your general well-being.

The way of the kanth Padma (throat chakra) is the way of ether. In our case, ether is space that denotes and refers to our emptiness. It holds the absolute blueprint of other areas of the body.

It also acts as a point of reference to accurately align and balance our energy throughout our whole bodies.

Signs of a well-balanced Vishuddha include authentic expression that comes very naturally and very easily. You can stand up for the things you believe in, and be inspired creatively.

A balanced chakra will enable you to remove your fears, doubt, and of course, negativity. Negativity is a captive state, and a balanced chakra is important.

Gaining knowledge of your chakra can help you to seek other knowledge and obtain it through direct experience. In turn, you open yourself up to a lifetime of boundless opportunities.

What are the critical characteristics of throat chakra?

  • Communication: throat chakra is the primary key to communication. A well-balanced throat chakra gives you the key to communicate well with others as well as listen to them.
  • Truth: kanth Padma is in constant motivation when you are able to speak your truth as well as share it with others.
  • Originality: because it inspires your creativity, your fifth chakra is inspired by your being authentic. Your individuality as a person guides it.
  • Expression: the throat chakra is all about being able to communicate well with others and have the ability to listen to them. Expressing yourself well is a focal point of the energy flow of the throat chakra.
  • Integrity: telling lies happens when your throat chakra is not well-balanced. But when it’s balanced, you are more at peace, and you can speak with truth. This goes a long way in enhancing your integrity.

8 Ways to Heal the Throat Chakra

01 Your Voice

Use your voice (try singing, it doesn’t matter if you don’t have a great voice. Just sing!)

Talking to family members and friends can also help you to clear and balance your throat chakra.

Sing in the shower (we know you sing the best in the shower), sing on your way to work, just sing. If you speak, make sure you speak truthful words.

02 Writing for Self-Expression

Write a journal. Yes, we know! Who does that any more? Well, we do.

Writing a journal can help you to balance your energy and alleviate your unbalanced throat chakra.

Self-expression on paper is one of the best ways to invite spontaneous insight and understanding into your life.

The Emotional blockage might be keeping you from having an open and honest conversation with yourself and with others.

03 The Color Blue

Think blue. The colour of throat chakra energy is blue. This symbolises the power of truth.

Breathing in and visualising a cleansing and healthy light, filling your throat, and letting it all out can help you release tension and stress that might be blocking your chakra.

04 Essential Oils

Burn vishudda essential oils and herbs.

Aromatherapy is an excellent way to tap into your throat chakra energy because your nose is also affected by an unbalanced chakra.

You can burn herbs like chamomile, sage, cypress, clove, tea tree, and whatever favorite herb you might have a preference for.

05 Yoga For the Throat Chakra

Practice yoga postures that activate the throat chakra. Yoga has different asanas (we love this word) that help you focus energy around your throat and thyroid area.

Connecting yourself spiritually and physically to your energy is important for your overall well-being. Some yoga asanas for the throat are, plow pose, child’s pose, upward plank pose, and bridge pose.

05 Crystal healing

Lapis lazuli is the main crystal associated and influenced by the throat chakra. You can carry the crystal around with you to center your energy and promote healing.

Another idea is to wear crystals in the form of jewellery. You can also purchase a roller-ball made from lapis lazuli and rub it on your throat.

The energetic properties of lapis lazuli restore your ability to communicate and your ability to speak the truth.

05 Fresh Air

Get outside. The throat chakra influences ether.

The colour of the sky is also blue. Purpose to go outside on a cloudless day and enjoy the blue space above your bed.

This activity, especially with meditation, will concentrate your throat energy and restore its flow throughout your body.

05 Meditation

Focusing your flow of energy consists of first quieting your mind. Meditation is the best way to experience this.

Relax your muscles and focus your attention to your throat as you breathe in, then breathe out and let everything go (tension and stress).

Affirmations for the Throat Chakra
