Kundalini Awakening Stages

When I started learning about kundalini energy, my teacher first explained the different stages of kundalini awakening.

I wanted her to understand that it wouldn’t happen overnight until she was ready for the long spiritual journey. If I am in the same place now, I will do my best to impart all that I have learned from my teachers and experiences.

Before we begin, here is a caveat: different teachers classify the Kundalini Awakening Stages differently, but the differences are small.

I decided to organize the process of awakening the Kundalini into three distinct phases: “arambha” or the beginning of meditation, “gata” or the purification phase, and the third eye awakening phase.

Of the three phases, the Third Eye’s awakening phase requires the highest practice and commitment level. Once this is done, things start to happen on their own without having to do much.

If you wonder what each stage of Kundalini awakening means or what will happen when it confronts you, I understand your curiosity. So I decided to share everything I discovered about Kundalini awakening.

Before discussing each of the three Kundalini Awakening Stages in detail, it is essential to understand the difference between the “chakras” or energy wheels and the “granthas” or knots. This is the key to understanding the three stages of Kundalini awakening.

What are chakras and chakra blocks?

The chakras are the body’s energy centers and can be roughly divided into seven roots, sacrum, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, and crown chakra. Each of these chakras looks like a wheel that turns rapidly and emits a specific color. That is why you have to contemplate them all and look at them with the right color.

The root chakra is indicated in red, the sacred chakra in orange, the solar plexus is yellow, the heart chakra is green, the throat chakra is blue, and finally, the crown chakra is purple.

Each of these chakras regulates a specific characteristic, and for its progression and development, it is essential to remove the obstacles of that particular chakra.

By removing these blockages, you not only allow the free flow of energy, but you also solve many of your physiological and psychological problems.

What is Kundalini Awakening?

Kundalini awakening is a state that you reach when you begin to transform yourself from within. Your perception changes, as do your feelings.

The way you interpret the world changes dramatically.

The way you see things also changes. You become aware of your inner core and relate to a higher goal.

A kind of illumination is approaching that triggers the energy of the dream that was already within you. You will become more aware, more precise, and more focused on life.

The awakening kundalini process is the name we give to opening the channels through which our spiritual energy flows.

This happens in three different stages.

The first stage in which we take care of the physical body and its needs, the second stage in which we take care of mental and emotional needs, and the third stage in which we take care of our spiritual needs.

The 3 stages of Kundalini awakening

There are many different opinions about the Kundalini Awakening Stages, as well as many different experiences. I think it’s the latter, but it’s true somehow. When Kundalini awakens, it leads to some insanity, loss of mind, or ego.

When all our life experiences flow into us, and our consciousness grows beyond anything we can imagine, we may feel crazy and lose our minds.

Still, in reality, we are recovering and freeing ourselves from our conditional sin mentality, free to see and experience the universe for what it is. There is a massive shift in perspective, and we can see the interconnectedness of all things and see our true nature and our full potential.

A change that occurs from the inside out releases and heals the trauma that remains in the body and consciousness.

Some consider themselves insane or develop mental health problems because they try to stop or repress the process through traditional methods and without a correct understanding of what is happening.

Kundalini works to purify the soul, mind, and body, and it is normal to suffer some mental disorder and possibly physical confusion.

So, let’s take a look at what each of these stages entails.

The first stage: material needs

Your life is consumed by the physical world and the needs of your physical body.

This is because the Kundalini awakens in the first three chakras, which take care of basic human needs.

They take care of our survival needs, our need to feel safe and secure and to be well-fed and watered.

They help in resolving ego, material wealth, and the symbol of life.Once we finish this stage, we move on to the next stage of Kundalini awakening.

Stage two: emotional and mental needs

During the next phase of Kundalini awakening, we move from basic human needs to modern humans’ emotional and mental conditions.

We move away from basic needs at this stage and begin to deal with the mental and emotional problems that plague intelligent beings.

This represents the movement of the animal to the higher object.

Almost no one goes beyond the stage of kundalini awakening.

Often, the mental and emotional scars we get in our lives are too much for people to overcome in this lifetime.

The third stage: spiritual needs

At this point, we no longer have to deal with the ego.

We understand the nature of consciousness in the universe and our place in the cosmic ascent process.

We fully connect with the spiritual level and learn to control ourselves outside of our physical bodies.

This is a stage that very few people have reached, much less surpassed.

The Rookie Masters earned their titles by achieving a real Kundalini awakening in this final stage. But more people seem to be getting to this point.

As we move forward and continue our spiritual journey, perhaps more of us can reach the fantastic heights of these great ascendant teachers.

Closing thoughts

Most traditional Kundalini yoga teachers agree with the chronology of the Kundalini Awakening Stages mentioned above. However, some yoga teachers help speed up the process of awakening the Kundalini with quick techniques.

You can do this by touching or looking. While some magnetize their hands and then touch the student’s root chakra, others manage to raise their kundalini energy just by sight. While these technologies speed up the process, I have reservations about it.

In my opinion, these fast-track methods can lead to complications. This process requires a lot of effort and time. This method can be slow, but a gradual transition through the different Kundalini Awakening stages makes it fun.
